The firm became Duane Hartman & Associates, Inc. (DHA) in 1993 when Duane Hartman, PLS, acquired the assets and records of Permit/Engineering, Inc. (P/E), consulting engineers, in Bellevue, Washington.  Duane, one of the founding partners of P/E, reorganized the firm and moved the assets to new offices in the Woodinville West Business Park by the Sammamish River in Woodinville, Washington.  DHA opened its new doors to clientele seeking quality surveying and mapping services.  The former engineering services were discontinued to give full attention to the conduct of surveying.

DHA’s staff includes a licensed, professional land surveyor, CAD technicians, field technicians and an office/financial manager.  The office facilities include computers loaded with software that includes Softdesk Civil/Survey and all versions of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble GPS and a variety of special data reduction adjustment and coordinate conversion software.  Final products are plotted on a HP color plotter (E size) and delivered electronically via any type of media of the client’s choice.  View our Staff Qualifications.

DHA’s associates have enjoyed many years of collaboration on projects in the Northwest.  Duane Hartman and Aero-Metric, Inc. (photogrammetrists) have worked together on the Columbia River Salmon Redd study, Priest Rapids to Richland Reach, the Fort Lewis Automated Mapping, and numerous control, photography and mapping assignments for the river basins under the Seattle District’s Army Corps of Engineers control.

DHA served as the project surveyor for 13 years with Puget Sound Transit Consultants (PSTC) on the Sound Transit Link Light Rail project.  Duane Hartman shared over 50% of his surveying budget with disadvantaged business enterprises (DBE) on the project.  The plan incorporated training DBE’s in the art of municipal roadway mapping employing foremost technology tutored by DHA’s experienced Staff.

Other key projects performed by DHA includes City of Bellevue's Northup Way Bike-Trail project; Boeing's Puget Sound Facilities' GIS Database compilation; Road Modernization Mapping for the City of SeaTac; Aircraft Compass Rose Calibrations in Washington, Philadelphia, South Carolina and Kansas; Georgetown Steam Plant Remediation (which included having DHA's HAZMAT surveyor on the jobsite daily); Boeing Plant 2 Control for Habitat Restoration; and the City of Redmond's Washington Cathedral Boundary Survey.

Duane Hartman also had exceptional experience with river basin mapping from 30-years of Seattle District Army Corps of Engineers flood plain mapping contracts.  The firm provides full service land surveying such as ALTA’s, boundary line adjustments, platting and topographic mapping to private and government clientele.

DHA is a popular choice in the Architect/Engineer (A/E) industry that serves public agencies and municipalities.  The firm’s current A/E clientele include Northshore Utility District in Kenmore, the City of Edmonds, HDR One Solution, AMEC Geomatrix, Murraysmith Engineers, Landau Associates, and many others.
